CRÈME BRÛLÉE

Until recently, I was absolutely convinced that I didn’t like crème brûlée. It was last Christmas, in Rome, when I discovered by mistake (perfect mistake!) that I loved it. I wanted crème caramel, but there were so many dessert including crème, so I got myself into a mess and ordered crème brûlée. When it came, I obviously tried it, because I never waste food and it became my dessert for the rest of the holidays .

Since then, I’ve wanted to make it but I didn’t have appropriated pots, but finally I’ve bought these ramekins for which I have great plans ;)

As you’ll see, this recipe is really easy, I didn’t even use a blowtorch and is worth trying.

Ingredients (4 servings):
4 egg yolks
130 g sugar (4,6 oz.) (+ more sugar for the top)
330 ml cream
1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

Preheat oven at 150ºC (300ºF).

Heat up the cream with the vanilla in a pot without boiling.
Beat the yolks and the sugar in a big heat-resistant bowl.
Pour the cream on the yolks and stir until it gets homogeneous.

Distribute into the recipients.

Pour hot water in a big dish and place the ramekins. Bake them for about 40 minutes (center must be creamy and borders set).

Take them out from the oven and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Sprinkle enough sugar to cover the surface and put it in the oven grill for 7-8 minutes or use the blowtorch if you have one.

Don´t forget that temperatures and times for the oven may be different in another oven.

Take them out from the oven, let them set for 5 minutes and eat them all!
