BLOODY CAKE TUTORIAL

As you already know, I love Halloween and this month it’ll be all for Halloween recipes.
But this cake it only had problems at the start, Universe was against me.

First, I baked the cake and the center collapsed for no reason.
So I decided to be optimistic and I filled the hole with chocolate ganache.
After that, when I was preparing the crystals, my thermometer ran out off batteries and I had to improvised. After two failed attempts, I found out a trick.
The rest worked out better and the result was quite decent.

Ingredients:
Your favorite cake (I used a cake of 18 cm of diameter)
Candy crystals
Vanilla buttercream
Cut off finger
Edible blood

Candy crystal
1/3 cup of granulated sugar
1/6 cup of water
1 tablespoon of corn syrup

Put all the ingredients in a pot and make it boil medium heat. If you have a thermometer heat until it reaches 150ºC. If you don’t, here’s a trick: introduce a spatula in the candy, raise it making a trickle and when it solidifies and breaks, it’s time to remove it from heat. Remember to remove before changing color.

Pour the hot candy in a baking tray covered with baking paper and let it cool down at room temperature for three hours.

After three hours, drop the crystal so it breaks into pieces.

Vanilla buttercream60 g of butter at room temperature (2.1 oz.)
125 g of icing sugar (4.4 oz.)
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

Put all the ingredients in the mixing bowl and mix at high speed until it increases its volume and gets whiter.

Cut off fingerFondant (white or already colored)
Gel/paste colorants: orange, black and yellow
Red gel colorant
Candy crystal shards

Take fondant dyed in pale skin color; make a cylinder y give it finger shape. With a yellowish piece of fondant make the bone. Make a hole in the finger, put a drop of water and introduce the bone. Make the nail with grey fondant and stick it to the finger. Finally, stick some candy crystal and put some red gel colorant.

Blood2 tablespoons of corn syrup
1 drop of raspberry scent (or any other flavor)
Liquid/gel colorants: red and black

Place the corn syrup and the raspberry scent in a bowl. Mix with a spoon and add colorant until you get the color.

Pour the mix in a piping bag.

Now, assemble the cake: cover the cake with the buttercream using a spatula.

Stick the candy crystals and place the finger.

Cut the piping bag; pour the blood in the edges of the crystals and then all over the cake.

The best part of the cake is people's reaction!

The cut off finger is pretty impacting!
